About Me

Aniju Varughese brings a 20-year track record of real estate development, construction, and engineering. She started her career as a structural engineer and façade consultant at some of the top multi-disciplinary engineering firms in the industry. Her work includes large- and small-scale developments and infrastructure projects, with public and private partners, located abroad and in the US. Her projects ranged from bridges and transit stations to specialty art structures, museums, and mixed-use towers. As a developer and project manager, Aniju oversaw the development of over $200 million of construction in NY and NJ. She brings hands-on experience in acquisitions, due diligence, construction financing, planning, project management, design and construction, and leasing and sales. Alongside her development work, in 2020, Aniju built Equip, an app-based construction-hiring marketplace for the NY / NJ area. Envisioned as the solution to rising labor costs, Equip linked contractors with skilled construction workers in the trades.

Aniju is excited to join the Axis Realty team and to be able to provide development strategy and vision to our partners and clients.

Aniju holds an MBA and MS from Columbia University and a BS from Cooper Union. She is a long-time volunteer with Reading Partners, which helps children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction.
